It happens 365 times a year, 30 or so times a month, 7 times a week! Every single day of our lives this takes place. “What is it?” you ask.
The opportunity to rise and shine!
Did the s-u-n rise today? You bet it did. And that was our Savior’s sweet reminder that we too have been called and empowered to do the same.
Each time the sun beams its rays, we officially have permission to rise up and shine our light as well. Despite how horribly crummy yesterday may have been or in response to how unbelievably fantastic things turned out, each and every day is another chance to give it another go!
How can I be so sure? Because nearly 2000 years ago, the S-o-n rose with all power in His hands. It is with that power, that you and I both can do all things!
The moon, which has no light of its own, reflects the light of the sun. As believers, we have the privilege of reflecting the Light of Christ.
Matthew 5:14–16 teaches us that just as Christ came as the Light of the world, He commands us to be “lights,” too. Doing this can be tough and scary. We get tired. We get disgusted. We get distracted.
When that happens, reflect on His faithfulness, His power, His goodness, His holiness. Resist the urge to sit and sulk. Don’t duck and dodge. Don’t fold and run.
YOU, my friend, were created to rise and shine!
“You are the light of the world.”
Matthew 5:14a
